Fun Dating Ideas: A Personalized Date Story
If you’ve been dating awhile, it’s easy to get stuck in routines and lose the romance of dating. So spice things up with a surprise romantic date! It doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy; just make sure it’s personal, like Katie’s boyfriend did…
My boyfriend and I hadn’t ever been on a date before and I was always laughing about how we started dating without actually going on dates. Well, about a year and a half ago he decided to change that. It was a Friday night and I had the whole day off from work and classes like I always did. I usually spent the day cleaning and doing homework, but all of a sudden there was knock on my window. My boyfriend stood there with a small box in his hand. Once inside, he showed me the box was full of the French pastries I was so fond of. We sat down at the table and ate them and talked about pretty much nothing, just our daily lives. It was nice and he had me laughing the whole time. Then he scooped me up and took me outside to show me yet another treat he had for me. Trees. Yes, trees. The silly goose had bought three small red maple trees. We spent the whole day outside, digging in the dirt, listening to music from the boom box we set up outside and eating sandwiches we’d made together. We got all dirty and didn’t care at all. We did whatever we felt like, dancing, climbing trees or singing out loud. It was an unconventional date, no movies, no fancy dinners, just a special carefree time with just the two of us. It was invigorating and made me feel like a little girl again. He later said he came up with the idea after I had told him about the red trees at my childhood home, which much to my dismay, had recently been torn down. It was a nice feeling that he had listened to me, and remembered my feelings, and that was the best gift of all!
